What is IMEI?
IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique 15-digit number assigned to every mobile phone. It is used to identify valid devices and can be used to block stolen phones from accessing a network.
How to find your IMEI
- Dial *#06# on your phone
- Check in Settings → About Phone → IMEI
- Look on the box your phone came in
- Check under the battery (older phones)
IMEI Structure
- TAC (Type Allocation Code) – First 8 digits identify the device model
- Serial Number – Next 6 digits are the device serial
- Check Digit – Last digit validates the IMEI using the Luhn algorithm
