Life Beyond Glory

Redefining Success

Social media and modern standards often create unrealistic expectations of what it means to be a successful woman: a thriving career, financial independence, and a perfect family. But what if that's not the reality for everyone?

For many women, taking a break from their careers to care for their families can lead to feelings of inadequacy and loss of identity. The concept of a "career" becomes a luxury, and the question arises: what is my value without one?

1. The Truth About Balance

The first step to finding fulfillment is to abandon the idea of "balance." It's unrealistic to divide time evenly between career and family without burning out. Investing in family is not a loss of career, but a transfer of investment from a external company to a personal project called "Family."

This project may not pay a monthly salary, but it requires mental and physical effort that can be more demanding than any corporate job. If a life without external glory can still provide a warm home, well-raised children, and a peaceful haven for a husband, isn't that a different kind of glory?

2. Redefining Career

After taking a break from work, the thought of returning to a 8-hour day, deadlines, and younger colleagues can be daunting. It's not necessary to force a return to the old path if it no longer fits.

Career is not limited to a corporate job title. A woman's career after marriage can take many forms, as long as it brings joy and autonomy:

  • Reviving old skills: Take on small projects or freelance work that utilizes past skills, such as web development or programming.
  • Turning hobbies into income: Start a small online business, like a flower arrangement service, that combines passion with income.
  • Seizing niche opportunities: Pursue language skills, offer support services for foreigners, or create a social media channel with a spouse.

These are all valid careers that can be adapted to a woman's life as a mother and wife.

3. If There's No Career at All, Then What?

Then that's okay too.

We're not born to compete in a race for the most impressive CV. Some trees bloom with vibrant flowers, while others provide gentle shade. A life without a remarkable career can still be peaceful.

One can spend time learning to drive, cooking a delicious meal, or simply enjoying family moments. A simple, debt-free life with loved ones' health and well-being is a privilege that many would trade their wealth for.

In conclusion, don't measure your life by someone else's standards. If you've taken a step back, don't panic. Take small steps, do things that bring you joy, and learn something new for the sake of personal growth. A life without glory can still be fulfilling, as long as you find peace.
